The blog has been quiet for a while. Various reasons, most of them having to do with just being in a busy season. Life here in South Africa is still beautiful. And there's a shifting, a quiet, creaking repositioning. A huddling of the play-makers and a stirring of something yet unseen. I see it happening in the country, yes, but first it is happening in my own heart.

It's easy to get swept away in the glowing and fading of the sun as days tick by. To get caught in the rush and the busy and the next thing. To get lost in a sea of to-do lists and tasks. Suddenly, without my realizing, instead of thinking about how long I've been here, my mind is turned more and more to how long I have left until this season is done. And with that comes floods of questions and unknowns, with unsure answers and speculated possibilities.

The ground of my life can feel shaky, and the inner thoughts of my mind a swirling storm of thoughts and emotions. I know my God is near, but sometimes it can be difficult to make out His still small voice when I hear with my eyes instead of my heart.

And then, there it is. His voice. A word.

Just one, but one so infused with power it mutes the roar of the questions and and shuts the mouth of my doubts. That word? Sustain.

He sustains me me. I might not have all the answers yet. I might not see whats up ahead or what miracle He's doing in my heart to break through into next plane, the next place, the next season. I can't perceive it, and yet peace comes with that word, sustain. He knows the answers. And He is seeing me through each step of the way. Yes, my hair is still wet from the rain, but my lips are smiling as I keep my eyes on my Jesus-trusting Him with each detail, each decision, each healing, each lesson, and each level. He sustains me until my last day, and will faithfully be there to usher me into the next.

Isaiah 46:3-5

3 “Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. 4 Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
